Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa
Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa is the Chief Executive Officer of the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) and interim Chair of the SADC Business Council Tourism Alliance. At the helm of TBCSA, he plays a leading role in advancing the growth, resilience and transformation of South Africa’s tourism sector.
With close to three decades of experience across the tourism value chain, Tshifhiwa is a strategic and innovative executive with deep expertise in marketing, communications, leadership and sector development. As part of marketing efforts to drive tourism arrivals, he was part of the team that brought the iconic “Trevor Noah for South Africa” campaign to life, which led the call for international tourists to visit the country and helped reposition brand South Africa on the global stage.
He holds an MSc in International Business, Leadership and Management from the University of York, a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing Communications, a Diploma in Marketing (Institute of Marketing Management), and a National Diploma in Tourism Management from the University of Johannesburg.
Tshifhiwa has held roles at organisations such as South African Tourism, Myriad Marketing, FEDHASA, Rennies Travel and SARS, and has consulted widely in the tourism space. He has served on several boards and advisory bodies, including the Tourism Transformation Council and the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa. He currently serves on the global Board of Advisors for The Sigmund Project, which supports collaboration and innovation in tourism worldwide.
A respected thought leader and passionate advocate for tourism development across the continent, Tshifhiwa regularly shares insights through media commentary, writing and public speaking.
